Carrier lookup guide
How carrier lookup works
A carrier lookup checks telecom routing and numbering data to identify the provider or network currently associated with a phone number. It may also return line type, location, and normalized carrier information.
Carrier vs normalized carrier
The carrier field may show the raw carrier name from a telecom data source. Normalized carrier is a cleaned-up version that groups or standardizes carrier names when possible.
Line type and location
Line type can describe whether a number appears to be mobile, landline, VoIP, or toll-free. Location often refers to numbering or routing location, not the caller's exact physical location.
